Chain Bridge

The Chain Bridge community is located in North Arlington. A visit to the neighborhoods of Chain Bridge awakens one to the tremendous geological processes and features that have come to define the communities situated along the Potomac River.

There are brief accounts of Native Americans and colonial activity in the neighborhoods of Chain Bridge. Like many other communities in Northern Virginia, the surrounding area served primarily agricultural purposes from the mid 18th century to the mid 20th century.

Chain Bridge has also served as a transportation hub. The first Chain Bridge, from which the community takes its name, was built in 1797. It has been replaced several times. The current bridge carries some 22,000 vehicles a day.

Quality of Life:

The houses and properties in Chain Bridge seem to conform to the area’s dynamic landscape. Broad, curvilinear roads meander through carefully planned and platted neighborhoods. Colonial and smaller frame houses stand peacefully amongst the community’s many trees.

The Gulf Branch Nature Center and Potomac Overlook Park allow residents to enjoy these seasonal delights. Bikers have an easy ride onto the C & O Canal.

There may not be metro rail service out here but driving is easy. Getting onto the G.W. Parkway is a breeze. N.W. Washington, D.C. is right across the Chain Bridge. Route 123 will take you to McLean, Tysons Corner and beyond. Biking is also a viable option.
